Last week was the letter B. It was a short week (and probably a little lazy) for us because i started taking J and my niece C to story time at the library on Tuesdays, so they can get some socialization with kids their age. Its such a cute activity to do with them, and they enjoy it so much! Friday was C’s birthday so my sister and mother took them to the childrens museum, which is so interactive.
B is for Bear
One of the easier activities i planned. Most kids have a teddy bear or two. I told him that bears where found all over the world, and told him which bear could be found where. I explained to him how they hibernate in the winter and the different types of foods they eat.

B is for Bird
For our bird activity we talked about different types of birds, and their songs. We talked about how most birds have nests and that birds lay eggs. I took him and the baby to the forest preserve to listen for different types of bird songs and to count any birds we saw.

For our art activity we made bird masks. He enjoyed creating the mask, but did not like wearing it at all

B is for Bees & Bugs
What little kid isn’t fascinated with bugs? My mother-in-law got him this cute Melissa and Doug bug set, and i thought it was just perfect to incorporate into this lesson!
We sorted the bugs by colors and counted them
We talked about the different types of bugs and what they do.
I had to really emphasize on bees, because he does not understand that they can sting him. My parents have a bird bath in their backyard and all summer he has tried to grab them.
After that, we headed outside and looked around the yard for different bugs.
